This historic agreement is a great opportunity for government and the not-for-profit sector to find better ways of working together; recognising the importance of collaboration, mutual respect and trust.
In our lifetime, we are given many choices and one of those choices is to make a difference. Volunteering is a difference that impacts not only on people, but on our society’s economic, social and cultural future. There are five volunteers for every paid worker in the not-for-profit sector, so it is imperative that we recognise and work on the many strategic issues affecting the sustainability of volunteering.
I am honoured to become a Compact Champion and applaud that the National Compact recognises the vital contributions of millions of volunteers. I see the implementation of the National Compact as crucial to building the not-for-profit sector into the future.
